The purpose of HAC is to determine the extent of the hazardous areas expected to be created by equipment in the proposed facilities.
Scope of Study
To review the existing Hazardous Area Classification of the plant with respect to IS 5572 and relevant international standards like NFPA 497,70 and 499, IEC 60079-10-1 and IEC 60079-10-2. To review the selection of electrical equipment installed in the hazardous area as per IS 5571 and IEC 60079-0 guidelines. The area classification will be utilised to develop the hazardous area layouts for the facility and define the basis for correct selection & location of fixed electrical / instrumentation equipment items. The ‘Zone’ for a release is determined based on the grade of release, area of release and ventilation in the area.
